FHE: Lehi's Dream/Tree of Life Part 2
We did part 2 of our 3-Part Lehi's Dream Family Home Evening last night (guys, my boys' attention span is VERY short, but you could obviously do these all together if you wanted to). Last night, we reenacted what is described in the dream, but in it's most basic form. If you have older children, you could add in people being a distraction like in the great and spacious buildings or do other things that, modern day, can distract you. You can also add yarn as something to hold onto, but my kids would've been too distracted by the texture or would've just run off rather than complete the lesson. For our little kiddos, we blindfolded them and each took the hands of one child and led them around the house. We ended at a decorative tree and had apples while we talked about how, just like they trusted us to not push them down the stairs or lead them to any other danger, Heavenly Father will never lead us astray and wants us to return to him. Feel free to serve the apples with yummy caramel or another fruit altogether: this is just what worked for my kiddos. It was a fun, simple activity that allowed the kids to interact and move around while still (hopefully) teaching them something that will stick with them.
Stay tuned for next week: the final part in our Lehi's Dream series!
